Blooming Prairie will offer up both pink flags and live auctions to raise funds to fight cancer as it kicks off its 17th annual Paint the Town Pink.

People may purchase a pink flag for $10 in memory of a loved one or to honor a cancer survivor. The flags, some 250 of them, will fly in the Field of Flags from Sunday, Aug. 27 until Sept. 11.

The flags, which can carry the names of the honoree and the person or persons honoring them, will be flown along Highway 218 under the banner, “Flying for a Cure.”

Family bingo takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. under the Big Top, and at 6:30 p.m., the Sticks of Fury drum line will perform at the Big Top.
