The woman told police that she was babysitting the children at the residence when Ushera came over. She said she used to be friends with him, but he had hit her and thrown her down the stairs in the past.

She told him to leave because she did not want to be bothered by him. She said Ushera threatened to kill her the next time he saw her and that he would shoot her. She said he then hit her approximately 10 times, causing her to lose consciousness and fall to the ground. She could not initially get up and Ushera left the residence, saying the next time he saw her she would not be alive.

Officers spoke to the children in the residence who were present for and witnessed the assault.

Ushera is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 11.
