Austin Area Foundation is urging area nonprofit organizations from Austin to submit applications for grants, which are due by Sept. 1.

Applications are available in the AAF office at 110 First Ave. SE, or online at www.austinareafoundation.org. Applications may be mailed to the AAF at PO Box 6, Austin, MN 55912.

Over $21,000 was distributed last year. Grants helped a wide range of events, from summer music in the park and Freedom Fest, to food for baskets prepared by the Salvation Army at Thanksgiving, to  sponsorship of the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
