Alleged trapped burgler pleads his innocence

An Austin man who was trapped in a garage by a resident during an alleged burglary pleaded not guilty to two charges.

Brandon Ingersoll, 32, pleaded not guilty to charges of felony first-degree burglary-possession of a dangerous weapon and felony third-
degree burglary in Mower County District Court on Thursday.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a report of a burglary at the 1200 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest at 10:16 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.

The resident stated that he came home and saw the light in the garage on. He then allegedly saw Ingersoll in the garage loading items from his freezer into a backpack.

Ingersoll allegedly grabbed a knife and approached the resident, who closed the garage door, trapping Ingersoll inside.

Officers arrested
Ingersoll and noted several packages of meat lying on the floor and a makeshift table with several knives.

Ingersoll is scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial on Nov. 3.
