A fire that started while a family was cooking was extinguished without injuries and any further damage to the home Saturday evening.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin Police and Fire were dispatched to a call at the 1900 block of Second Avenue Southeast at 7:43 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, there were open flames on the porch.

Two adults at the residence said they were cooking on the porch. A child alerted them that the porch was on fire. It is believed the gas tank from the grill had caught on fire.
