Marion ‘Penny’ Kvam, 87

Marion “Penny” Kvam, 87, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Penny was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Austin to William and Margaret (Wilkerson) Diggins. She married Delmar “Jack” Kvam. To that union, three sons were born, Roger, Larry and Randy. They were later divorced.

Her enjoyments included playing softball, crocheting, baking, preparing for and spending holidays with her family, visiting with friends and time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing games and especially loved playing Bingo.

Penny lived her entire life in Austin and was loved and respected by many. She will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and Bingo friends.

Remembering her are her three sons, Roger (Elaine), Larry and Randy (Barb), all of Austin; grandchildren, Riley, Amy, Ben, Julie, Katie, Jill, Jeff, Niki and Chris; brother-in-law, Tom Jennings; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Violet (Howard) Hansen, Jimmy Diggins, Arch (Cletus) Heimer, Bob (Molly) Diggins, Patty (Al) Puettmann and Margaret Jennings; nephew, Tommy Heimer; nieces, Nancy Heimer, Sharon Johansen, Linda Peck, Lori Puettmann-Mayne and Marsha Pawluk; and friend Charlie Dormady.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at Mayer Funeral Home. Friends may also call on Wednesday, for one hour before the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mark’s Assisted Living as well as the doctors and nurses at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin for their beautiful and compassionate care during her stay there.
