Joyce Elaine Ree, 84

Joyce Elaine Ree, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday afternoon, July 1, 2017, at St. Mark’s Nursing Home in Austin.

Joyce Elaine Andrews was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Austin, the daughter of Bernard and Ruth (Greenlee) Andrews. She attended school in Austin, and was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Ree on Jan. 30, 1949, in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin, raising five children. Joyce worked at Austin Floral and then the Burr Oak Market for several years, before moving to the Burr Oak Manor Nursing Home as a cook. Joyce also worked at the White Drug Store until it closed, and then moved to Reed’s Fourth Avenue convenience store as a cashier for several years. Kenneth died on Feb. 16, 1984. Joyce was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles.  Joyce loved to read and do crocheting and needlework.

Survivors include five children, David Ree of Austin, Susan Ree of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dennis (Cheryl) Ree of Austin, Julie (Dale) Lee of Madison Lake, Minnesota, and Barbara (William) Bos of Austin; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen (Leo) Kopsa of Beaman, Iowa, Mary (Bill) Nehring of Tiffin, Iowa, and Bonnie Burke of Rochester, Minnesota; also many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Ruth Andrews; her husband, Kenneth; a son in infancy, Matthew; a granddaughter, Jill Bos; a grandson, Derek Ree; and a sister, Rose Grebin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Niethammer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.worlein.com.
