Iris M. Hansen, 69, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Austin.

Iris, better known as “Doodie” by friends and family, was born on Aug. 11, 1947, in Austin. She was one of Baldy and Margaret’s “five gorgeous girls.” She graduated from Pacelli High School and from the Austin Junior College with an associate degree and worked as a paralegal.

Her life was full of faith, family, friends and kindness. She created magic by sharing her generous spirit with all those she met. Once she was in your life, it was forever. Her phenomenal memory and attention to detail was reflected in the many gifts and remembrances she shared. Doodie had a talent for collecting just what you wanted and making sure she gave it to you. Shakespeare’s quote, “though she be but little, she is fierce,” was perhaps coined with her in mind as her larger-than-life personality was in sharp contrast to the small and sweet person she was. Doodie was a dedicated advocate for those in need who crossed her path. She had a genuine devotion to the Holy Mother and St. Therese “The Little Flower.”

Iris was an avid toy and doll collector; she loved attending plays and musicals and watching movies and crime shows. She enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Iris completed her earthly journey on July 4, 2017. She is in her eternal home with her son, Aaron; her parents, Charles and Margaret; infant brother, Charles; and great-niece, Caitlin Hassler.

She is survived by her sons, Christian (Connie) Weis, Jordan Weis, and Benjamin (Taylir) Weis; grandchildren, Michael Weis, Marcus Weis, Noah Weis, Jonah Weis, Jeremiah Kachel, Christopher Weis, Douglas Nelson, Timothy Weis, and Sam Weis; great-grandchildren Brylyn and Alaina; sisters, Margaret “Beth” (Edward) Wollerman, Charlotte (Joseph) Theissen, Michael (Dennis) Bednar, and Leone Hansen; many nieces and nephews; and a special goddaughter and niece, Logan Alexander.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 10, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Monday.
