Greg Robert Farrell, 58, of Lyle, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at his rural home.

Greg was born April 20, 1959, in Austin, Minnesota, to Robert and Retha Farrell. He grew up in the Brownsdale, Minnesota, area and was baptized at the Church of Christ in Austin in 1975 and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1977.

On Jan. 23, 1982, he was united in marriage to Anita Vogt at Queen of Angel’s Catholic Church in Austin. The couple lived in south central Minnesota near Blooming Prairie while Greg worked at MHF Inc. for most of his life and the couple raised a family together. In 2004, they moved to Lyle.

Greg enjoyed working on tractors and going to swap meets to see what kinds of treasures he could find. He loved to work with his hands and garden and took great pride in his vegetable garden he grew with his family every year. Greg also loved to feed and watch the squirrels and birds, especially cardinals and hummingbirds, with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his mother, Retha, Austin; wife, Anita, Lyle; daughters, Heidi Adams, Omaha, Nebraska, Alisha (Adam) Meyer, Austin; son, Zachary Farrell, Lyle; brother, Doug (Rebecca) Farrell, Austin; sister, Deanna (Dale) Krukow, Emmons, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Laura, Haylie, Heather and Bob; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father Robert; his brother Terry; and his sister LeAnne.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church of Dexter, Minnesota, with Pastor Brad Novacek officiating. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery the following Monday for family.
