Douglas Kevin Ashton, 51

Douglas Kevin Ashton, 51, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Douglas was born on June 9, 1966, in Austin to Bruce and Mae (Bjork) Ashton. He graduated from Austin High School in 1984. Doug worked as a floral warehouse manager for many years in Minneapolis. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Doug was exceptionally talented and had a creative and artistic eye. Being colorblind did not stop him from creating one-of-a kind works of art. He also had a passion for good tunes and was a skilled guitar player. Doug will be dearly missed by his friends and family and will be remembered as a gentle and kind soul.

Doug is survived by his sisters, Diane (Jimmy Meyer) Ashton of Austin, and Debra (Deane) Nelson of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews, Deven (Michelle) Leidall, Jaynie Bolster, Lisa Leidall, Tyler Bolster and Aimee Leidall; great-nieces and nephews, Allan Evans, Kloey Nelson, Avery Bolster, Alana Nelson and Ashton Leidall; his godmother, Ruth Schmidt of Stillwater, Minnesota and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Mae Ashton; grandparents, Kenneth and Eileen Ashton, Fred Sr. and Mabel Bjork; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. David Simerson officiating. The Ashton family will greet friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
