Join us for an exciting grant award presentation from U.S. Bank Places to Play grant at 5:30 p.m. on June 29 at the Austin Morning Lions Park (8th Street NE and Oakland Place NE.)

The U.S. Bank Places to Play grant is a collaboration between U.S. Bank and the Minnesota Vikings that provides grant funding to non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations and schools in low-to moderate-income communities in Minnesota to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local play spaces.

Mower County Seniors, Inc., who partnered with Austin Park and Recreation and the Austin Morning Lions club for a funding match, will receive a grant to replace modular play equipment and add adult exercise equipment in Austin Morning Lions Park.

To complete the total project, the city also received a grant from the Hormel Foundation for ADA surface tiles a poured material under the play equipment.

This well-used park is a great area to play outside and gather as a family. Replacing the current modular play equipment and adding adult exercise equipment will allow intergenerational groups a safe, accessible, enjoyable place to play and gather.

We thank everyone involved with securing funding for this project.

You may not be old now, but if you’re lucky, one day you will be.

We look forward to seeing you at our many programs at the Senior Center. Don’t forget our coffee shop, where every day you can have homemade soup for $1  and sandwich for 50 cents. Don’t forget Tuesday is hotdish day. We are having tator tot hotdish for only $2. You are always welcome at the center.
