A 53-year-old Preston man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a crash Thursday night in Mower County that caused his vehicle to briefly catch fire.

Gregory A. Smith was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus in Rochester following the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported his 2002 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Highway 56 around 7:21 p.m. when it hit the side embankment of a gravel driveway, launched and rolled once.

The car briefly caught fire, according to the Mower County Sheriff’s Office.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, LeRoy Fire Department, LeRoy First Responders and LeRoy Ambulance assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
