The Lyle American Legion will be hosting the annual Halfway to January Cancer Bash at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.
The event was started by Tracy Schilling in 2004 after she beat breast cancer. Tracy passed away from cancer in 2015.
“She started this event to give back to the community,” said Jordan Schilling, Tracy’s son, who now runs the event.
According to Schilling, the event has raised between $13,000 and $14,000 in the past two years.
“Every dollar counts,” he said.
The event will feature a beanbag tournament starting at 3 p.m., with registration starting at 2 p.m. A taco bar and pulled pork will be served at the event.
There will be a bake sale and a stretch raffle from 4 to 8 p.m. Items being raffled off include a Bloody Mary mix basket, shirts and a Spam box donated by Hormel Foods.
A live auction will begin at 7 p.m. Items being auctioned include a toolbox, beanbag boards and a maple tree.
All proceeds will be given to the Lyle Area Cancer Auction.
