A 22-year-old Austin woman faces felony drug charges after police found her and a man in a car at Todd Park with 10.19 grams of methamphetamine.

Patricia Jane Boonreuang pleaded not guilty Monday to three felony third-degree drug possession charges — one for 10 or more grams of a narcotic, one for possessing methamphetamine in a park zone, and another for possessing a schedule I or II narcotic in a park zone.

At 11:30 p.m. on April 17, Austin police observed two people in a 2002 Buick Century in Todd Park after park hours. Police made contact with Boonreuang and Brody Carlson.

The two told officers they were having sex, but officers noticed a baggie in the front seat that they believed contained drugs. The two both claimed to have no knowledge of the bag or its contents.

A police K-9 and subsequent search uncovered 10.19 grams of meth, several prescription pills, a small amount of marijuana, a digital scale with meth residue and other drug paraphernalia.

Boonreuang allegedly told police the items belonged to her.

A small amount of marijuana and meth residue was found in Carlson’s pockets, and he admitted to using meth about four hours earlier.

Carlson was taken into custody but has not been charged.

Boonreuang is scheduled for an Aug. 14 trial.
