After a courageous battle and with his family by his side, beloved husband, and father, Richard L. “Dick” Hofland, 81, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away from our lives on April 20, 2017.

Dick loved betting on the horses, golf, playing gin and spending time with family and friends. Dick was born in St. Ansgar, Iowa, on March 18, 1936. He was raised in Austin, Minnesota, where he graduated from Austin High School. He met and married Patty Gilpin. In 1961, they moved to Albuquerque, where they raised their family. Dick loved his career as a custom home builder for over 50 years until he retired at the age of 79.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat; daughters, Kim Nichols and her husband, Randy; Julie Stein, and her husband, Rick; nephew, Kurt Thorson and family; and brother-in-law, Harold Thorson.

A tribute and celebration of life was held May 11 in Albuquerque.

Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
