The Austin boys tennis team wasn’t able to advance any players out of the Subsection 1AA individual meet in Rochester Thursday.

The Austin doubles team of Josh Brehmer and Jens Ourada were seeded fourth and after receiving a bye, they beat Anish Singh and Jason Coyle of Rochester John Marshall 6-3, 6-3. In the semifinals, Brehmer and Ourada lost 6-1, 6-0 to top seeded Nick Aney and Varuen Iyer of Rochester Century.

“Aney and Iyer are probably the favorites to win the section and also the state doubles title,” Austin head coach Jeff Anderson said. “They are both ranked in the top 10 in the state in singles.”

The Austin doubles team of Noah Kremlin and Todd Weaver lost their first match to Glen Erickson and Max Milbrandt of JM 6-1, 6-1, Chris Kirchgatter of Austin lost his first match to Lincoln Maher of Owatonna 6-4, 6-2 and Luke Goodew of Austin lost his first match to Evan Huemoeller of Owatonna 6-0, 6-1.
