The Austin boys golf team finished 12th out of 12 teams at the Big Nine meet in Rochester Tuesday.

The Packers were led by Mati Parada, who shot an 86 and Noah Bawek shot an 88.

The meet was played in rainy and soggy conditions.

“The weather got the best of us today,” Austin head coach Matt Raso said. “Playing in constant rain requires a higher level of focus than normal. We can’t use the weather as an excuse, we have played in worse conditions. Playing in weather like this isn’t fun, but these conditions will tell you who has the ability grind it out and deal with extra adversity.

Bawek had a rough start for the Packers as he shot a 50 his first nine, but he rebounded to shoot a 38 the rest of the way.

“I like to see that kind of fight out of him,” Raso said of Bawek. “We will continue to work hard to have a better showing in sections.”
