An Express Care clinic located inside the new Austin Hy-Vee at 1307 18th Ave. NW opened Tuesday, May 9, 2017, coinciding with the grand opening of the new grocery store.

“Hy-Vee’s top priority is taking care of its customers. With the new Express Care clinic, our customers will not only have access to our in-store dietitians and pharmacists, but now they will be able to seek health, wellness and preventive care services all in one stop,” says Erin Bailey, Hy-Vee’s assistant vice president of health and wellness project development. “We are excited to work with Mayo Clinic Health System so that we can continue to help our customers lead healthier, happier lives.”

Express Care, a Mayo Clinic Health System facility, is located adjacent to the Hy-Vee pharmacy, and consists of three exam rooms as well as a waiting area. Mayo Clinic Express Care providers treat common conditions and other medical issues that require prompt treatment. Express Care providers see patients in the order they arrive, so no appointment is necessary.

“This new clinic helps ensure patients get the right care when and where it is most convenient to them,” says Mark Ciota, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and Austin. “We are excited to expand our care options and enhance access to our services.”

The Express Care clinic is staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants and offers treatment for conditions like sore throats, sinus infections, colds and flu, and minor cuts. Express Care is an extension of primary care offerings and is intended for non-emergency services for patients ages 18 months through 75 years.

Express Care offers convenient, extended hours on weekdays and weekends: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Mayo Clinic Health System and the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, to celebrate the Express Care opening.
