I-94 lane closures top road woes in Twin Cities

Interstate 94 will get narrow in key stretches across the Twin Cities this weekend, the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s road hassles map shows.

Here’s a look at some of the detail, via MnDOT.

I-94, St. Paul to Maplewood. Starting at 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday, eastbound I-94 from Mounds Boulevard to Century Avenue will have alternating single lane closures. Drivers should expect lane restrictions in both directions, traffic delays and temporary exit/entrance ramp closures as project work continues between St. Paul and Maplewood. There are several ramp closures and detours.

I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center. From 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, southbound Minnesota Highway 252 will be reduced to a single lane between Interstate 694 to I-94. Also the ramp from southbound 252 to eastbound/westbound I-694, Minnesota Highway 100 and westbound I-94 is closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. There are several other ramp closures.

Beginning Monday on that stretch:

• Southbound Highway 252 to eastbound I-94 will be closed for bridge work through mid-July.

•Westbound I-94 to westbound I-394 will be reduced to a single lane. The Interstate 394 HOV reversible lane will be used for all motorists traveling from westbound I-94 to westbound I-394 or to Minnesota Highway 100. This will last until June 12.

•The ramps from Lyndale Avenue to westbound I-394 and from eastbound I-94 to westbound I-394 will be closed through mid-to-late June.
