The No. 1 Hayfield softball team came out swinging to open the Section 1A West tournament as it beat Alden-Conger (1-16 overall) 18-0 in Hayfield Monday.

Kyal Heydt had two homers and five RBIs in the win for the Vikings (14-6 overall) and Kate Kruger had one homer and two RBIs.

Hayfield will host host No. 4 Janseville-Waldorf-Pemberton (7-12 overall) 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Vikings beat JWP 14-4 in six innings April 17.
