Edith Guy, 96

Edith Guy, 96, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday May 16, 2017, at the Grand Meadow Care Center.

Edith Marie Olson was born May 25, 1920, in rural Adams, Minnesota, to Peder and Isabelle (Hagen) Olson. She attended and graduated from LeRoy (Minnesota) High School in 1938. On Oct. 19, 1938, Edith married the love of her life, Wayne Guy, in Osage, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Robert Wayne Guy and Kathleen Marie Guy.

Together Wayne and Edith farmed in the Grand Meadow area for about 30 years. Edith also volunteered at the Ostrander (Minneosta) Nursing home for 28 years, loving every minute she spent there visiting, playing cards, or helping out wherever she could. Whether dancing with Wayne or attending her birthday club, you could always count on many smiles and even a hug from Edith. Edith and Wayne loved dancing so much, on the way home one night they stopped the car to dance in the street, only to be told by an officer to go dance at home. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding her very own snowmobile. Edith loved traveling with Wayne during the winter months. While traveling you could always find Edith on the beach looking for pretty rocks to keep as souvenirs.
