The Blooming Prairie boys golf team is in prime position to get to state for the second straight year after it finished with a solid day at the Section 1A golf meet in Rochester Thursday.

BP shot a 342 and it sits in first place by 25 strokes over second place Fillmore Central. BP senior Tommy Braaten shot a 75 to lead the field and Lucas Noble sits in third place with a 81.

“I was extremely happy with our overall performance today,” BP co-head coach Cory Hendrickson said. “The conditions were tough. The greens were fast and the wind definitely played a big part in the higher-than-normal scores. I thought several of our golfers really stayed mentally strong after having some troubles early in the round.”
