The Austin All Stars season got underway Saturday with the Austin VFW going 1-3 In the Mason City Tourney.

The VFW Stars lost to Fort Dodge12-3 and they fell to Highway 69

14-0 in bracket play. In consolation, the Stars beat Clear Lake 6-5 and then lost the consolation title game 2-1.

Garrett Lahanan, Lathan Wilson and Teegan Finley shared mound duties.

“Our pitchers threw the ball well,” said head coach Jeremy Wilson said. “We just committed too many errors and our hitting was not up to par. It was our first outing so we are not really disappointed, we just have to find positions. We will improve as the season progresses.”

The Jays 10 year old All Stars, playing in Albert Lea won their first two games 7-1 and 17-4 and then lost to Anoka 10-8.

The Jays will be at home against Rochester, Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at South Grove Park.
