Adeline C. Christianson, 95

Adeline C. Christianson, 95, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Prairie Manor Care Center.

Adeline Catherine Kerling was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Austin, Minnesota, to Mathias and Katharina (Meyer) Kerling, the seventh of 10 children. She attended St. Augustine Catholic School. On Nov. 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clinton Christianson at St. Augustine Catholic Church Parsonage in Austin. This city girl became an instant farm wife, learning how to drive a tractor, care for livestock, and help with all the farm chores.  She found time to tend her many flower beds and large vegetable garden. In 1998, Clinton and Adeline sold their farmhouse and moved into Blooming Prairie. They enjoyed trips to casinos and travels with friends. Adeline was known for her delicious chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. She will be dearly missed.

Adeline is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (James) Govostes of Sandy, Utah, Darlene Christianson of Blooming Prairie, and Marsha (John) O’Neil of Andover, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Nicole (Joaquin) Avila, Jenna Govostes, John O’Neil and Joseph O’Neil; four great-grandsons, Leevi Avila, Avery Avila, Joshua O’Neil and Jack O’Neil; sister, Lucille Ramlo; brothersm Leo (Ramona) Kerling and Vernon (Donna Krebsbach) Kerling; sister-in-law, Frieda (Raymond) Christianson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mathias and Katharina Kerling,; her husband, Clinton on March 19, 2017; brothers, Matt, Edward, Albert, and Donald Kerling; and sisters, Mathilda Schumacher and Esther Bellrichard.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 73 years.
