An 18-year-old Austin resident was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening three others by exposing a knife.

Maro Ochalla was charged Monday  with three misdemeanors for disorderly conduct for fighting, trespassing and obstructing the legal process.

According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, two male teens, ages 14 and 17, and an 18-year-male were sitting on a porch at a home on the 900 block of 11th Avenue Southwest about 5 p.m. when an unknown male walked up next to the house, and approached them, speaking in a language they did not know. At some point, the man lifted up his shirt, exposing a large knife. In language they could understand, he asked them, “Do you want to lose your life?”

According to the three, they grabbed the man, and the knife fell to the ground. The suspect walked away, but kept returning with threats. One of the three contacted police.

Officers and Mower County deputies responded to the scene, and despite the fact that officers asked him numerous times to stop, he walked away from officers, heading north. At that point, Krueger said, they took the man into custody, handcuffed the man and transported him to jail. Krueger said a knife was recovered at the scene.
