ST. PAUL —  Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL-Austin, was appointed to the conference committee on SF 780, the Agriculture Finance omnibus bill on Tuesday.

“It is an honor to work with my fellow conferees on negotiating the final bill with members of the Senate and Gov. Dayton’s administration. I’m confident we can build on a bill that passed the House with bipartisan support and deliver positive results for our Greater Minnesota farmers,” said Poppe in a press release.

Numerous DFL provisions made it into the original omnibus bill, including one Poppe carried that increases funding for Farm Advocates.

“Following the House passing the omnibus bill earlier this month, I reiterated my confidence in this bill,” Poppe said in the release. “While I would have liked to see a larger budget target, the strong support on both sides of the aisle gives us a strong position to go into conference committee.”

The Agriculture Finance conference committee is expected to meet in the coming days to begin negotiations.
