The Hayfield baseball team suffered its first loss of the season when it lost 8-3 to Kasson-Mantorville (2-2 overall, 2-1 HVL) in Hayfield Monday.

The Vikings (2-1 overall, 1-1 HVL) had just three hits and they struck out 13 times in the loss.

“I know the weather conditions weren’t great, but we’ve got to put the ball in play,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said.
