Joe Kroymann is a senior for the Packer boys track and field team.
Q: What sports do you compete in?
A: I compete in cross country and track.
Q: How did you originally get into track?
A: I started running track in sixth grade as an alternative to playing baseball.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A: I don’t have one specific favorite memory, but over the years I’ve been fortunate to make a lot of great friends through athletics, and I really cherish that.
Q: What have you learned from track?
A:The most important thing I’ve learned from track is the importance of being prepared. People can talk all they want, but if they’re not fit on race day, it’s going to be pretty obvious.
Q: What is the hardest part about track?
A: The hardest part about track is definitely the mental side of the sport. Training is pretty tough most of the time, but having a strong mental game makes it more tolerable.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: My biggest sports role model is [American middle distance runner] Ben Blankenship. I really admire Blankenship because he isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and always performs well at the most important races.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: The James Bond film, “You Only Live Twice.”
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Orchestra
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Professional runner
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Pears
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: Attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?
A: I enjoy playing chess.
Q: What are your top three pump songs before a big competition?
A: “Mars, The Bringer of War” by Gustave Holst, “Backseat Freestyle” by Kendrick Lamar and “The Mystery (Who is God?) by Rakim.
Q: What are your top three guilty pleasure songs?
A: “Love Like a Sunset Part ll” by Phoenix, “Haunt Muskie” by C418 and “Rivers and Roads” by The Head and the Heart.
