In November, Republican Donald Trump nearly won Minnesota, losing the state to Democrat Hillary Clinton by a mere 1.5 percentage points.
Despite that, a new poll finds that the Democratic elected officials from Minnesota are still quite popular.
The poll, from Morning Consult, which surveyed the approval ratings of county’s U.S. Senators and governors, found Democratic U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar with a 63 percent approval rating. Democratic U.S. Sen. Al Franken, with a 59 percent approval rating, and Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, with a 58 percent approval rating, were not far behind.
Of the three, Klobuchar will face voters the soonest — she is up for re-election in 2018. Franken’s next election would be in 2020, if he runs for senate again, and Dayton has said he will not run again next year.
In the poll’s rankings, Klobuchar is tied for the eighth most popular senator in the country. Franken is tied for eleventh senator with the highest approval ratings. And Dayton is tied for the thirteenth most popular governor.
The 50-state polls were taken over the first three months of this year. The pollster says the Minnesota numbers have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus two percent.
