Bring on the abatements.
The Mower County Board of Commissioners is set to hear seven tax abatement requests during its Tuesday morning meeting in the basement board room of the Mower County Government Center.
The abatements will be discussed around 9:30 a.m.
The county joined the city of Austin and Austin Public Schools in approving the five-year abatement for home and apartment projects.
The abatements aim to give residents and developers of new residential property a break in an effort to spur residential development.
The meeting will start with a department report from Recorder Jill Cordes around 8:30 a.m. and will also include discussions on Community Health grants and updates.
The board will also discuss a detour request from the Minnesota Department of Transportation for work on Highway 56.
