Zonta Club of Austin to hold Women of Achievement dinner

The Zonta Club of Austin will honor women from Mower County during its sixth annual Women of Acheivement dinner March 20 at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center.

Two women have been declared the Mower County “Woman of Achievement.” They are Sheila Berger for the Back Pack Project at Austin Public Schools and Carol Brown for her work with Real Hope for the Hungry.

The money raised from this fundraiser will help with scholarships awarded by the Zonta Club each year. They are the Zonta Non-Traditional Scholarship at Riverland Community College, Young Woman in Public Affairs award for a high school student, the Jane M. Klausman, Woman in Business award for a college student and the GED program for non-traditional students.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Evelina Giobbe who will tell her story of starting the group “Whisper” and working with the United Nations. Zonta International works with 67 different countries.
