Lisa Kay Pluto, 48, of Dodge Center, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
She was born Feb. 6, 1969, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Lyndon and Joyce (Rogers) Sukola. She graduated from Apollo High School and received her undergraduate degree in international business from St. Cloud State University, and her Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul.
On Aug 18, 2001, she was united in marriage to Christopher Pluto and they lived in St. Paul, until 2006 when they moved to Dodge Center. In the early stages of her career she practiced all areas of law. In January of 2007, she started her own practice, Pluto Legal, concentrating on Medical Assistance and Estate Planning. Lisa greatly enjoyed helping others, and this was evident in her work as she assisted others, especially the elderly, helping to put their affairs in order. She was well respected and trusted in her expertise and had frequently presented on medical assistance, estate and disability planning. She was a member of several organizations including the Wealth Council, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, The Hennepin County Medical Assistance Committee, The Elder Resource Association, Southern Minnesota Estate Planning Council, LLC, the Minnesota State Bar Association Agricultural and Rural Law and Elder Law.
Growing up, Lisa had traveled the world with her family, and had also studied abroad in Japan as an undergrad. Her love of travel stayed with her throughout her life, but most of her free moments were spent and cherished with her family. She was also quite creative and crafty, often making or designing something for or with her children. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Triton Foundation and the Girl Scouts.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Christopher Pluto of Dodge Center; daughters, Morgan and Sydney; son, Graham; her parents, Lyndon and Joyce Sukola of St. Cloud; sister, Lynda (Kevin) Larson of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; niece and nephew, Madeleine and Corey and brother in law, Jon Pluto. She was preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law, John and Barbara Pluto.
Memorial service will be noon on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, with Rev. Barb Streed officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Mankato at a later date. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the family for the children’s college education fund. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home Rochester Chapel.
