Irma D. Mueller, 94

Irma D. Mueller, 94, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday morning, March 20, 2017, at Primrose Assisted Living in Austin.

Irma Doris Meyer was born July 12, 1922, near Waltham, Minnesota, to Arnold H. and Eleonora (Wuertz) Meyer.  She was baptized on July 17, 1922, at the home of her parents near Waltham, and confirmed May 17, 1936, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham. Irma attended parochial school at Trinity for grades 1-8, and graduated with the class of 1940 from Austin High School. Irma worked at the Hormel plant for three years and on April 8, 1945, was united in marriage to Vernon C. Mueller at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waltham. Irma and Vernon farmed until March 1968 when they moved into Austin.  For several years she worked at St. Olaf Hospital in the kitchen and later became a tax receptionist and preparer for 33 years. She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin where she was involved in the Altar Guild, Circle, Ladies Aid, and the church’s “Cheers” for many years. Irma and Vernon later became members of  St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sending cards to the sick, having company and playing 500, camping, and crocheting. Irma was always ready to give a helping hand when and where needed. She dearly loved her family.

She is survived by her husband Vernon C. Mueller of Austin; son, Richard (Elaine) Mueller of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandsons, Timothy (Ronda) Mueller of Des Moines, David (Wendy) Mueller of Des Moines, Marshall (Becky) Anderson of Mansfield, Texas, and Michael (Carryn) Anderson of North Liberty, Iowa; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, James (Carolyn) Meyer of Rochester, Minnesota, and Robert  Meyer of Waltham; sister, Theadale (Robert) Eggleston of Marion, Wisconsin; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Charles Mueller; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Ronald Anderson; brother, Arnold; and a sister-in-law, Florence Meyer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Robert Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24 at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
