A fire was reported Tuesday night at the SKB Environmental Landfill in Lansing, but little damage was reported, said Chief Deputy Mark May of the Mower County Sheriff’s Department.

Austin firefighters responded to the blaze at 9 p.m. and cleared the scene less than an hour later. Heavy equipment used at the landfill was moved from the area and was not damaged. The fire only burned waste. May said it is unknown how the fire began.

The landfill is a dumping ground for construction and demolition waste.
