Marvel J. Mogen, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at her home. Marvel Jean Beck was born Feb. 21, 1931, in Waltham, Minnesota, to Earl and Angeline (Severtson) Beck. She attended Waltham schools before graduating from Austin High School in 1949. On June 24, 1950, Marvel married Cleo Mogen at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple raised one daughter. Cleo passed away in 2002. Prior to her marriage, Marvel worked at Marigold Dairy. She enjoyed her role as homemaker and raising their daughter Mona.

Among her favorite pastimes were antiquing, archery, embroidery and stitching, plastic canvas art and cooking. Marvel was known for her excellent pies and cakes. She loved playing cards and lawn bowling. Her greatest blessing was her family, who will miss her dearly. Marvel and Cleo began wintering in Sun City, Arizona, in the 1980s. She lived there even after Cleo’s death, from 1994-2013. She returned to Austin in 2013 to be near her daughter and family.

Marvel is survived by her daughter Mona (Curt) Hansen of Austin; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, and one brother, Gary (Gloria) Beck of Sun City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

At Marvel’s request, no services will be held. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery Columbarium. Memorials can be directed to the American Diabetes Association or recipient of donor’s choice. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
