The Riverland Community College men’s basketball team picked up its second straight dramatic home win as it topped Rochester Community and Technical College 93-90 in overtime in RCC Saturday.

The Yellowjackets (8-8 overall, 1-3 MCAC South) hit a three-pointer to tie the game late in OT, but Junior Stone, a freshman from Richfield, Minn., took the ball the length of the court and hit a game-winning three-pointer for the Blue Devils (12-5 overall, 3-1 MCAC South) at the buzzer.

The Blue Devils had led by as many as 19 points, but RCTC stormed back to take a six-point lead with 2:30 left in the game. RCC forced overtime when Darius Bell came up with a steal and converted it into a lay-up.

“It was a very, very hard fought game,” RCC head coach Derek Hahn said. “Rochester’s a team that goes on runs and our guys did a good job of taking on the adversity and making plays when it counts. It’s a very big win for our program.”

Jace Klinkner had 34 points in the win for RCC and Stone, Donte Makazu and Bell all had 11 points.
