The Hayfield boys basketball team got off to a slow start as it lost 54-44 to Stewartville (5-8 overall, 1-5 HVL) on the road Friday.
The Tigers led 17-4 to start the game, but the Vikings (9-6 overall, 6-2 HVL) were able to get as close as 42-41 late in the game. Trace Tebay had 26 points in the loss for Hayfield.
“We kind of ran out of gas,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “It took so much energy to get back into the game and we couldn’t get over the hump and win it. Trace had a really good game and he kept us in it.”
