Albert Lea Civic Music and Albert Lea Community Theatre have again partnered with New York City’s Metropolitan Opera to present “The Met: Live in HD.” On Saturday, Jan. 21, “Romeo and Juliette” by Gounod based on Shakespeare’s play, will be offered at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center 147 N. Broadway at 11:55 a.m. English words are on the screen at all times to enhance one’s appreciation of the singers and understanding of the plot. During the intermission in New York, a commentator will interview cast members, general manager Peter Gelb, the conductor, or you may be able to watch workers change the stage sets.

Ticket prices per opera are $20 for adults and $12 for students under 30. Save 10 percent and design your own subscription with a Five Ticket Flex Package. You will receive five passes which can be used individually at any five operas, or select one opera and attend with four guests or any other combination.

Tickets for this performance or any of the remaining five operas can be purchased at the box office on Saturday.  Those wishing to learn more about the opera and singers can come to the theater at 11:30 am for “Meet the Met,” an opera talk.
