An Austin family is receiving help from the American Red Cross following a fire at their home on the 700 block of Seventh Avenue Southeast on Wednesday.

The Austin Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from the home at 3:30 p.m.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said it is believed the fire began in the kitchen, where the stove was left on.

There was no report of injuries.

The fire department cleared the scene at 4:39 p.m.
