Evelyn Mae Busker, 93

Evelyn Mae Busker, 93, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota.

Evelyn was born on Jan. 8, 1924, in Austin, to Martin and Inga (Sorlien) Mehammer. She graduated from Austin High School in 1942 and attended Austin Junior College for a short while to up date business courses, mainly short hand, typing, and bookkeeping for her employment at Murphy Finance with Jack Bell managing. Previously, she had worked at the Geo. A. Hormel Co. in invoicing, statistics, the mail room and transportation. On July 21, 1946, she married Edwin (Ed) Busker at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. They were married for 59 years.

Her family was most important in her life; she loved to cook and entertained a lot in her younger years. Evelyn and Edwin traveled quite extensively in a motor home, visiting Washington, California, and Florida. They built a winter home in Summerfield, Florida, where they spent some time

They moved from Austin to Lakeville, Minnesota, where they lived for eight years and then to Apple Valley, to a town home and enjoyed that there was no more yard work and up keep as their health was starting to fail them both.

In 1948, Evelyn and a cousin flew to Norway to visit relatives, as their parents had gone to visit also and were there at the same time. It was an experience not to ever be forgotten. She was there four weeks, but she always said it was too short of time as there was so much traveling to see everything and visit all the aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She left this earth to her heavenly home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior and soulmate, Edwin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Inga Mehammer and husband Edwin Busker.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Larry (Naomi) Busker of Owatonna, Minnesota, Kevin Busker of Independence, Iowa, and Marc (Judy) Busker of Belle Plaine, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Jill (Jedi) Britzius of Owatonna, Tracy Busker, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Martin Busker of Owatonna, Katie Busker of Independence, Lauren (Dustin) Gibbs of Independence, Michael Busker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Adam Busker of Belle Plaine, and Alexander Busker of Belle Plaine; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Asher Spiker, Jonnalyn and Scout Gibbs; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27,  at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Niethammer officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church on Friday morning for one hour before the service.
