Darlene M. Baldwin, 81, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Darlene was born on Feb. 8, 1935, near Oakland, Minnesota, to Harold and Mable (Bailey) Baldwin. She graduated from Austin High School in 1953 and went on to complete a one year secretarial program. In February 1954 she began working for Geo. A. Hormel and Co. where she remained until her retirement in February 2000.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Darlene loved living in Austin. She enjoyed long drives and vacationing at Madden’s Resort on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minnesota. Later in life, she liked to go to the Faribault, Minnesota, lakes area.

Darlene is survived by her nieces, Kimberly Kilian (Jay Thompson), Elysian, Minnesota, and Angela (Kristian) Omicioli, East Greenwich, Rhode Island; great-nieces and nephews, Emily Smith, Kaleb Smith, Hope Kilian, Jackson Kilian, Madeline Omicioli, Gates Omicioli and Cameron Omicioli; great-great nephew, Lucca Trejo.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Baldwin; mother and step-father, Mable and Olaf Hanson; and her sister, Sharon Ann Spiten.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Friday at the mortuary.
