The Hayfield boys basketball team forced a couple of extra sessions, but it lost to Rochester Lourdes (9-3 overall, 6-1 HVL) 69-65 in double overtime in Rochester Thursday.
Trace Tebay scored near the end of regulation for Hayfield (9-8 overall, 6-4 HVL) to force the first OT, and Dominic Dublin hit a late free throw in the first OT to keep the game going, but the Vikings couldn’t find the equalizer in the second OT.
“To play a team like that on the road and to have a chance to win is huge,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “They’re a good team and they hit some big shots. It was a well played game and someone had to lose. Unfortunately it was us.”
Hayfield used an early 19-2 run to go up 19-9 and it led 33-29 at the half.
Hayfield scoring: Drew Olive, 24; Trace Tebay, 22; Mason Tapp, 10; Dominic Dublin, 9; free throws: 77 percent (20-for-26)
