The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team struggled against one of the top teams in Class A when they lost to No. 4 ranked Goodhue (13-0 overall) 52-28 on the road Monday.
The Athletics (5-4 overall) trailed 33-11 at the half and they weren’t able to get back in the game.
“I know we’re young and inexperienced, but I want my teams to come out and get after it no matter who we’re playing,” LP head coach Scott Koenigs said. “We played passive and scared and we got behind early. You need to play well to compete with a team like this.”
LP struggled with turnovers in the lost against a very disciplined Wildcat team.
“They’re a great team and they’re so well coached,” Koenigs said. “They’re tough to guard and they shot a lot of high percentage shots.”
LP scoring: Brady Lester, 9; Jed Nelson, 6; Patrick Murphy, 3; Trinity Anderson, 2; Nathan Drees, 2; Trace Fishbaugher, 2; Cole Ethen, 2; Kamis Kuku, 2; free throws: 55 percent (5-for-9)
