The Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team was missing one of its biggest forces, but it was still able to beat Randolph (2-3 overall, 1-1 SEC) by a score of 63-42 in Lyle Thursday.
Center Kristi Fett was out of the lineup with an illness, but Brooke Walter picked up the slack for LP (4-0 overall, 4-0 SEC) as she poured in a career-high 28 points, to go along with seven steals and six assists.
“[Randolph is] a good basketball team and they’re one of the top contenders in the SEC,” LP head coach Justin Morris said. “Without Kristi, we wanted to really pressure the basketball and play an up tempo style. We missed Kristi, but it was a gutty performance.”
Randolph 23 19 — 42
LP 38 25 — 63
LP scoring: Brooke Walter, 28; Abby Bollingberg, 10; Olivia Christianson, 9; Bethany Strouf, 8; Kendal Truckenmiller, 6; Lucy Nelson, 2; free throws: 53 percent (10-for-19)
