Southland girls basketball team tops Wabasha-Kellogg

The Southland girls basketball team beat Wabasha-Kellogg (1-2 overall, 1-1 Three Rivers) 54-46 on the road Friday.
The Rebels (2-0 overall, 2-0 Three Rivers) had two starters foul out with nine minutes left, but freshman Lexi Smith stepped up with 14 points and junior McKendry Kennedy added 16 points.
“It was an extremely physical game. We’re glad to get out there with a win and no injuries,” Southland head coach Dean Bendtsen said. “Our underclassmen stepped up well and we had some really nice performances from some people that surprised us.”
