Hayfield girls basketball team edges out Kenyon-Wanamingo

The Hayfield girls basketball team beat Kenyon-Wanamingo (5-2 overall) 54-49 in the Hayfield tournament Wednesday.
Carrie Rutledge had 25 poitns to lead the Vikings (7-1 overall), who have now won seven straight games. KW tied the game in the second half, but Hayfield was able to respond by hitting back to back threes to take the lead for good.
“We pulled out a nice win,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “This is a big conference win and we’re fighting with them for section seedings.”
Hayfield will play Glencoe-Silver Lake in the tournament title game in Hayfield 6 p.m. Thursday.
