Q: What sports do you compete in?
A: Gymnastics and diving.
Q: How did you originally get into gymnastics?
A: I started in dance when I was around four years old and did that for about a year. One day out of the blue I told my mom I wanted to do gymnastics. I don’t know how I knew what it was, maybe from watching the Olympics? Once I started that around the age of five I fell in love with the sport.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A: I will never forget my first year of being on the high school team. I was so excited to be around all of the older girls and learn from them. My ultimate favorite moment from that year would have to be all the pasta parties. Jen [Boyle] and I were so shy we would sit in the corner. We were so nervous, but once we opened up we really became part of a large, lovely group of girls.
Q: What have you learned from sports?
A: Oh my goodness, I have learned everything from this sport. Some of the major things I have learned include: team work, mindfulness, and determination.
Q: What is the hardest part about gymnastics?
A: The hardest part of gymnastics for most people, including myself, would be trusting your mind to allow you to do whatever you want to do.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: I would definitely have to say one of my closest friends Lexy Ramler. She is an extraordinary talented and hard working athlete. I have trained with with her several years and every time I see her she has become stronger. She is one who always has a great attitude and is always willing to help others improve.
