David Lee Kersten, 77, of Rose Creek, Minnesota, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

He was born April 15, 1939, in Minneapolis, to Calvin and Beatrice (Haase) Kersten.

David joined the Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Union Local 34 in August 1961. He was past president and served on several union boards.

David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rebecca Kersten of Rose Creek; three children, Cheryl Witso and Brian Kersten, both of Rosemount, Minnesota, and Evan Kersten of Rose Creek; two grandchildren, Alexander Witso and David Kersten; and his brother, Daniel (Pam) Kersten of Washington state. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota. Interment will be at Owatonna (Minnesota) Memorial Gardens on Saturday, Jan. 7.
