The LeRoy-Ostrander boys basketball team made a big run to take a big lead, but it couldn’t close out the game as it lost 69-58 to Houston (1-1 overall, 1-1 SEC) on the road Friday.
The Cardinals (0-1 overall, 0-1 SEC) trailed by 24 points, but they rallied to take a one-point lead with five minutes left. However, the Hurricanes responded with a run of their own.
“It was a good effort in the second half,” LO head coach Trevor Carrier said. “We just dug ourselves in a deep hole. It’s not easy coming back from 24 and we did that, but I think we ran out of gas after that.”
Trey Hungerholt had eight points, six rebounds and seven assists for LO (0-1 overall, 0-1 SEC) Sean Lohuis had 11 points, four assists and three steals.
