A man was injured Wednesday afternoon when the bicycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck on Highway 105 just after 4 p.m.
According to the Mower County Sheriff’s Department, Larry Schwie, 68, was cycling on the north side of Highway 105, in the same direction as the 2010 Ford pickup driven by Eloy Morgado Rodrigues, 23, also of Austin.
Rodrigues told deputies that he was driving about 40 mph when he saw Schwie on his bike. As he approached, Rodrigues said that Schwie allegedly swerved into the traffic lane and although he tried to avoid the cyclist, he was unable to do so.
Schwie was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin. His condition was unknown, but his injuries were not life-threatening, said Sheriff Therese Amazi.
